Description
Round Galvanised Dowels are pre-cut lengths of round steel bar used to assist with thermal movement and lateral transfer across concrete slab joints. One half of the dowel is set into the first concrete pour, with the exposed end later embedded into the adjoining slab to create a secure connection. This allows the bars to act as load transfer devices across transverse joints, helping keep old and new concrete level as the slab expands and contracts.
These dowels provide effective reinforcement by allowing lateral movement between adjoining slabs while maintaining vertical alignment. One end remains free to accommodate expansion and contraction, reducing the risk of cracking or uneven surfaces over time. Available in 16mm and 20mm diameters, each with a 450mm length, they are a practical choice for slab construction, extensions and repair work where joint integrity is critical.
